Navigating spaces beyond

We consider ourselves sentient, the most evolved life form of all genera, crown jewel of nature. This uniqueness of ours is shrouded in veils of solitude, since we strive to share our benevolent texture only with others like us. We look at the sky day and night, searching, listening, calling, craving, praying. But we don’t hear any answer, only an enchanting colorful glitter of the faraway suns remains.

By updating our technological senses, we’ve come to realize that exoplanets are abundant, nearly every star has at least one planet. So far, we’ve discovered nearly 6300 exoplanets. More than 1000 stars are multiplanet systems. Many of them have potential for life as we understand it. We update the variables in the Drake equations, it suggests there should be many like us out there in the Milky Way alone. And yet we hear only silence, we stumble upon the essence of the Fermi paradox.

Maybe it’s the Dark Forest theory, they’re all silent, hiding from something, or someone. Maybe they use more advanced means of communication, undetectable for our level of technology. Maybe they’ve evolved into beings which no longer require technology. Maybe they all destroyed themselves.

And then again. maybe, it’s only us. It would be such a waste of space and resources, if it’s only us. If we’re the only technologically capable species in our galaxy, then we really are a rare jewel.

We’re at the dawn of becoming interplanetary civilization, we’re planning to expand to the worlds beyond. We have several options to choose from in our solar system. This will ensure our existence beyond our world. But before expanding further in the solar system, perhaps we should fix our homeworld society first.

Once we settle nice and cosy in our cosmic neighborhood, we explore and expand further, to the vast spaces beyond. Next step, we reach for the stars.

And in this void we exist, struggling for breath, for warmth of touch, for comfort of reason. And we stand alone. Our path is made of us.
